Why CSK failed to qualify for Play-offs in IPL 2025?

CSK is one of the greatest teams in the history of IPL but in IPL 2025 they failed to qualify for Play-offs and they are set to finish IPL 2025 season at No.10 position. We will see the main reasons of failure in IPL season 2025. 

1. Selected a flop squad in Mega Auction 2025

In Mega Auction 2025 CSK selected a squad which was not stable, they selected wrong players whether it's in bowling departments or batting departments . For example they selected R Ashwin who is a liability for any team in T20 cricket because he can't take wickets and that's why he was dropped from playing XI after some matches in IPL 2025. 

2. Still unable to move on from MS Dhoni 

Where other teams are investing in futures while CSK is still unable to move on from MS Dhoni and that's one of the reason why CSK failed in this season. MSD who should've retired after IPL 2023 is still playing and he is blocking the spot of a young wicketkeeper batter who can play for CSK for many years. CSK management is treating MSD like a god and because of this they are suffering this season. MSD failed to complete many run chase this season whether it's against RR or RCB but no one will blame MSD even former cricketers or cricket experts always doing sycophantic even after losing matches.

3.  failed to read own home conditions 

CSK is used to be the best team in home conditions where they win matches by preparing spin pitches but that plan failed this season because opposition teams applied their game plan brilliantly and they able to breach the fortress of CSK but when CSK started losing matches in home conditions then head coach of CSK started making excuses and some of excuses were that curators are not offering those pitches team management wanted but in reality this was not correct.

4. Lacks of power hitting and fearless cricket 

CSK batters were unable to play fearless brand of cricket which T20 cricket demands and they were lacking of power hitting and that becomes one of the biggest reasons for CSK , their batters played atleast 3-4 matches in this season without hitting a six in powerplay overs and this shows their timid and defensive approach. They started playing fearless cricket when they got some good replacement players like Dewald Brevis and Ayush Mhatre but that was too late for CSK .

What can CSK do after this disaster performance in this season? 

CSK have got some good replacement players like Ayush Mhatre , Urvil Patel and Dewald Brevis and these players are the players who plays fearless brand of cricket unlike other CSK players and if these players given proper chance by CSK management then these players will do great things for CSK. CSK should move on from players like R Ashwin or R Jadeja who are outdated T20 players and try to find some good players that will help CSK. CSK should move on from MS Dhoni because MSD is blocking a spot of youngster and he should understand that thing.

Does senior players of MI really underperform under Hardik Pandya captaincy?
