Rohit Sharma - The Test Captain

Rohit Sharma is one of the best captain in the world cricket. In the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Indian Cricket team has performed very well. Rohit Sharma was appointed as a Captain of Indian test team in 2022 because of his captaincy records in White-ball formats. But, Test Captaincy was a very different role for Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma knows test captaincy will be a very tough task, but he knows he can create his own legacy in test cricket as a captain. After becoming test captain Rohit Sharma played his first test series against Srilanka at home,  India win the series with a margin of 2-0. Because of injury and Covid Rohit Sharma missed 3 tests (1 vs England in June 2022, 2 vs Bangladesh in December 2022 ) . In 2023, Rohit Sharma first biggest test series as a Captain was against Australia and Rohit Sharma won the series . But in WTC final India lost to Australia. Rohit Sharma faced many criticism as a captain, many sports journalists and former cricketers were saying Rohit Sharma should be removed as a captain . After WTC final, Indian Cricket team first series was against Westindies in Westindies. Before starting the series Selectors decided it's time to start transition in test cricket and they select team and they dropped some players who are the part of WTC finals. India won test series in Westindies against Westindies with a margin of 1-0 in the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. But in India many cricket experts were still criticising Rohit Sharma captaincy and they were comparing Rohit Sharma captaincy in test cricket with former test captain Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli was a good test captain , but those people were forgetting When Virat Kohli became test captain all Indian players were very experienced and all players were at the peak of their career and when Rohit Sharma became captain Indian Cricket team was struggling. After Westindies series, another test series was waiting for Rohit Sharma and that series was against South Africa in South Africa. Indian cricket team hadn't won any test series in South Africa. In the first test match against South Africa Indian cricket team lost to South Africa badly, Once again everyone started criticising Rohit Sharma captaincy. But In Second test match India beat South Africa and levelled the two match test series (1-1) . After Levelling test series against South Africa in South Africa, another Series was waiting for Rohit Sharma. That series was against England, a team who was playing very fearless brand of cricket in test cricket. But in the first test match of five match series, Indian team lost to England by 28 runs and once again everyone started criticising Rohit Sharma captaincy in test cricket. But, in next 3 matches Rohit Sharma silenced the critics with his captaincy tactics and beat England and won the test series. In this series Rohit Sharma played with an inexperienced Indian cricket team and managed to won the series with his captaincy skills. Four test match has been played in test series and one match is still left,  fifth test match will be played in Dharamshala from 7 March. 

My opinion: 

Rohit Sharma is in last phase of his career and he has performed very well as a test captain. But another big test series is waiting for Rohit Sharma as a test captain .  And that series will be Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia, this year. This will the biggest test series for Rohit Sharma, because beating Australia in Australia is a very tough task for any captain. In last two tests series in against Australia, Indian Cricket has performed very well and won the series. This series will make the legacy of Rohit Sharma in test cricket as a Captain.
